From time to time new technological developments emerge which are not just an incremental improvement over current practice, but are a true leap forward. Evaporative Mould Cooling is such a development.

For a hundred years since injection moulding was first developed and practised as a plastics production technique, mould cooling technology has remained fairly much the same. We machine (usually drill) water galleries into and through moulds as close to moulding surfaces and as comprehensively as is practical, and then we pump cooling water through those galleries during production with the mould.

This is in fact far from efficient but until now it has been the only realistic option. Ritemp Evaporative Mould Cooling is new, patented mould cooling technology that harnesses the large uptake in heat associated with vaporising water. It has many significant advantages including:

  • Enhanced heat transfer resulting in significantly reduced cycle times
  • Uniform part cooling resulting in less part distortion
  • More accurate and consistent part dimensions
  • Full closed loop control of cooling systems for each mould half
