Approximately 50% of all work undertaken since the consultancy was formed is for clients based outside New Zealand.

New Zealand client examples.

• A large New Zealand owned manufacturer who is sourcing an extensive proportion of their parts from off shore. This client encountered problems with failures in plastics components and needed these failures analysed together with a recommendation on how to resolve the problem and prevent it reoccurring. The consultancy drew on its materials technology expertise and its familiarity with international manufacturing systems to help resolve this to the client’s satisfaction.
• The New Zealand branch of an large international pharmaceutical manufacturing company which encountered problems with inconsistent product quality in plastics packaging supplied by a New Zealand manufacturer. The consultancy was able to utilize its independence and proven experience to work cooperatively with the supplier to resolve these issues in a way that would help assure an ongoing solution for the client.
• A New Zealand plastics manufacturer who required additional resources to help develop a new line of large packaging. The products were designed and prototyped, and then a request for quotations for supply of moulds circulated locally and internationally. The business was placed with an overseas supplier whom the consultancy had previously used, and the moulds completed on time and to the agreed standard. Extensive mould testing was completed at the supplier before finally approved products were produced and the moulds shipped to New Zealand where they have performed very satisfactorily.
• A small New Zealand product design and development company with a range of patents has utilized the consultancy to assist with materials selection and product design refinement to assist manufacturing.
• Different patent attorneys have utilized the consultancy in an expert witness role for court proceedings related to patent infringement. In several cases this has required the consultancy’s involvement right through to court hearings including preparation of witness statements, court evidence and cross-examination.

International client examples.

• Supply of product development and technical management services to a medium sized manufacturer based in the Pacific basin. The consultancy has been involved with this company virtually continuously over more than fifteen years, and during that time has completed an extensive number of new product development projects related to various forms of plastics packaging. This has always involved the sourcing of new moulds, and in many cases the identification and sourcing of new production equipment. Products have ranged from various bottles and closures through to the development and approval of a range of Dangerous Goods containers, and carbonated beverage bottles.
• An Australian National Standards organization involved in the delivery of training in plastics technologies to workplaces in Australia. The consultancy provided its expertise to assist with qualification design and development, and assessment systems. The consultancy also undertook a project to formalize the relationships between plastics industry qualifications in Australia and New Zealand and how these qualifications could be suitably recognized in each country.
